It is often observed to honour motherhood, maternal ties, and the strength of society's mothers. Mother's Day is observed in many parts of the country throughout the world. The month of May is the most common time to celebrate.

 


HISTORY OF MOTHER'S DAY

                      
                       Mother's Day was first celebrated in the US, in 1908 when a woman named Anna Jarvis wished to commemorate Mother's Day as a recognised holiday to honour her mother, Ann Reese Jarvis who was a peace activist and had passed away three years prior.

FOUNER OF MOTHER'S DAY

                       
                         The official Mother's Day holiday arose in the 1900s as a result of the efforts of Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis. Following her mother's 1905 death, Anna Jarvis conceived of Mother's Day as a way of honoring the sacrifices mothers made for their children.
